PhD thesis award/prize

Each year, the ED85 council deliberates to award a prize for the best thesis. The awardee presents her/his work and receives the prize during the annual ED85 scientific days.

Procedure

After the thesis defence and based on the excellence of the doctoral work, the two external thesis referees may recommend the thesis for the prize.

The proposal form is to be completed by the referees within one month after the defence, and should be sent by e-mail, mail or fax to the office of the Graduate School (ED85 office). If this proposal is not received by the ED85 before the end of this period, the proposal cannot be considered.

Award criteria

Award criteria:

  • The quality of first author publication(s)
  • The novelty of the topic
  • The editorial quality of the thesis dissertation
  • The quality of the oral presentation
  • The quality of the defence and the relevance of the answers given by the student to questions by jury members
